tonight i’m going to see them at MHoW. or music hall of williamsburg. which a lot of people type as MHoW. and now i always just say “em-how” in my head whenever i think of the place. i haven’t quite progressed to saying it out loud, so i’m still good, i think.
but yes, folks. yellow ostrich. listen to them. love them. beautiful harmonies. lovely indie pop, with just a dash of twee. “i’ll open my heart if you open your heart. open your heart.” okay, that’s a bit more than a dash, yeah? but awesome!
check them out! http://yellowostrich.bandcamp.com/ you can download their album for free. or pay what you will. i think i paid $5. which is like paying a million dollars for me, given how much i hate paying for music. but i’ll do it if i love it. and i do.
i’m going to try and track down some batteries for my camera and take some pictures. i know i have like 3 half-empty packs of AA batteries in my apartment. i put them somewhere totally obvious so i wouldn’t lose them. except i think they’re each in a separate totally obvious place. otherwise i wouldn’t have kept buying new packages. you know how it goes. maybe i’ll blog about it tomorrow. but you know how unreliable i am about that.
i can give you a preview though:
alex schaaf is totally cute and reminds me an older version of anthony michael hall in the breakfast club. he played in stocking feet. so adorable! i loved the music! indie boys are pretty.
maybe i just don’t have anything new to say. alright. i have to make myself presentable and head out. you should come if you’re already in williamsburg. it’s pretty hard/near impossible to get in or out this weekend. apparently MTA is quarantining us by cutting off our escape routes. or protecting us by keeping everyone else out. i suppose it depends on how you look at it.
